Rolling Stones

1. How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of Magazine Design and the parts of a magazine cover and interior?

By taking inspiration from multiply Rolling Stones covers. I selected a photograph that went along with the theme. Also the color scheme is taken for the covers by highlighting the red in the headline and the box designs in between each subhead. By having the running line is the red circle over the masthead it created layers that gave the cover depth.

2. In what ways does your magazine connect to the corporate identity of the magazine? What are some design queues that you used from the existing magazine?

The color scheme was taken from past covers done by rolling stones. Also the boxes in between each subhead was a style design that is feature in most of their covers.

3. How did completing the brainstorming packet and sketches affect your design process?

Completing the packet gave me a chance to preview the cover before actually doing anything on the computer. The organization allowed for clarity going into Illustrator. Also organizing my computer by the layers on the worksheet gave a clear point on what i had and what i was missing.

4. How did you like working with a partner? How do you think working with a partner makes the design process easier and more difficult?

Working with Nicole was very enjoyable. By dividing up the work we were able to create better designs while communicating about the color scheme and the images we used.

5. Looking at your partner’s design, if you were to design your partner’s portion by yourself how would it look different? What would you have changed?

If i had to design the interior I would add more pictures and make the article longer with moe subtitles. But overall i really love Nicholes design and the flow between the cover and interior I feel is very strong.

6. Describe the ideal partner (co-worker / co –designer)?

An ideal partner would listen to what I have to say while also contributing their own ideas. Also communication about design option has to happen in order to be successful.
